WHAT IS A COMPATIBLE UNITA Compatible Unit is a conglomeration of activities and/or items that form part of a task. Compatible Units can be one complete unit, or it can be made up of many sub CUs to form part of a large structure like a building or Substation. The establishment of these Compatible Unitsassist in the standardisation of materials, tasks and activities.Following the establishment of a number of SDTs and CUs the function maintenance and the creation of additional ones as required was blended into the business as usual activities.Michael Giuffreda’s role as CU coordinator, is to continue the work established by the taskforce. Over the past three years, the SDT and CU has seen benefits to the organisation such as:Shorter design cycles Reduction in field engineering and rework requirements Provides realistic project estimates Automates the ordering process.
