This significant cost base reduction was pivotal in preventing the joint venture from posting a financial loss. I managed sourcing decisions and complex negotiations, and I led the team in developing the localisation rate strategy with China-based suppliers. • I led the purchasing activity that successfully delivered four key programmes across the Range Rover and Jaguar platforms. Directing the Programme Steering Purchase Team, I was responsible for all sourcing decisions and oversaw governance and escalated issues. Early sourcing of local commodities reduced import supply chain costs by ¥2.6m RMB (£332K) or 3.7% annually.

I worked with the third-party IT provider and provided executive project governance on behalf of the wider business.• Amid a downturn in retail sales, operating costs needed to be improved for the company’s future sustainability. Leading a transition project, I identified process efficiency gaps by using tools such as SIPOC analysis and value stream mapping. Being responsible for all headcount decisions, I restructured the programme purchasing team, streamlining three unique teams of 21 employees into two newly-aligned teams of 14 – a 33.3% reduction saving ¥434K RMB pa.

Born of my initiative, rather than corporate policy, I developed and implemented the strategic vision across all three UK manufacturing sites plus additional sites in Slovakia, India and Brazil. The resource model was adopted globally after the pilot implementation in the Halewood assembly plant realised a reduction in operating costs of £212K pa. • I project-manged the design, development, and deployment of a new STA Launch Dashboard, which increased response times by 19% across all Halewood-delivered programmes and at all but zero cost, in-house. The dashboard captured real-time data analytics and its implementation enabled the Global Purchasing Team to track issues across all programmes.

This achievement not only created an immediate cost-per-unit saving; it identified future cost-saving opportunities.• Managing the Vehicle Planning Team, I achieved a four-hour (8%) reduction in dock-to-dock time for vehicle manufacture, which improved Halewood’s Body Shop manufacturing capacity by 13,200 vehicles per year, with a wholesale value of circa £0.5bn. Increasing manufacturing centre capacity typically requires significant capital expenditure; this success required no extra funding.
