Michael has 30 years of experience in global financial markets, with recognized success in both long/short and long-only mandates.At Calamos, Michael Grant manages investment team members and has portfolio management responsibilities for the firm’s Global Long/Short and US Growth Strategies. He is also a member of the Calamos Investment Committee, which is charged with providing a top-down framework, maintaining oversight of risk and performance metrics, and evaluating investment process. Prior to joining Calamos in 2015, Michael founded Phineus Partners in 2002, where he launched a successful long/short strategy, which he continues to lead at Calamos. Previously, he held a variety of investment positions at Schroder Investment Management, including Managing Director, Head of the US Equity Team in London, and Head of the Global Technology Team. As Head of the US Equity team, he had direct responsibility for multi-billions of dollars in assets, primarily in US equities, and managed a team of analysts based in New York and London. During his tenure in this position, Michael was listed as one of the Top 10 Best Managers of US Equities (Overseas) by Forbes magazine. As Head of the Global Technology Team, he was responsible for the firm’s global technology portfolios. During Michael’s tenure as Head of the Global Technology Team, Schroders had more than $30 billion in technology equities under management. Earlier in his career, he was a portfolio manager for the National Investment Trust Co. in Taipei, Taiwan, and a US equity analyst for the Principal Group in Canada. Michael earned a master’s degree from the London School of Economics, where he specialized in International History. He has Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta, Canada.
