Teaching assistant for a studio-style course where students learn the ethical use of machine learning through the development of models and predictive features from unstructured data involving socially relevant issues.

Published Gray et al., 2020, an EEG+behavioral psychophysics experiment exploring the role of neural alpha oscillations on visual perception. Contracted work to write a small library of MATLAB scripts and functions used to process a large amount of behavioral and eye-tracking data, calculate various performance metrics, and output the data to Excel and SPSS.

Instructed a sophomore/junior level undergraduate course on the organization of the mind. Covered a variety of topics such as, consciousness, perception, attention, memory, and decision making. Designed the syllabus and most lectures, emphasizing critical engagement of the material rather than rote memorization for difficult exams. Anonymous qualitative reviews were overwhelmingly positive.

Teaching assistant for an intensive course that guided psychology students through the entire scientific research process, from reviewing background literature to generate a research question to writing up statistical analyses in an APA formatted paper. Much time was spent teaching students how to use the Qualtrics survey software and how to conduct basic statistical analyses in SPSS.

Served as a mentor for instructors enrolled in a required training program for faculty planning on teaching Writing Intensive courses. I helped faculty adjust their syllabi and create assignments that encouraged students to use writing as a means of critically engaging with the subject matter, which has been shown to improve learning outcomes.

Co-authored a $160,000 grant successfully funded by PepsiCo. Designed and led data collection for the resulting study, which was eventually published as Wilson et al., 2017 (2nd author). Designed and executed an EEG+eye-tracking+behavioral experiment which resulted in Gray et al., 2015. Helped with participant recruitment, data collection, etc. for various other basic and clinical studies (e.g., Freedman et al., 2017, 3rd author). Served as a mentor for several undergraduate students. Presented my data regularly at lab meetings and several conferences.

Conducted eye-tracking research on human participants which resulted in Gray et al., 2014. Recruited participants, regularly gave presentations on pilot data analyses and experiment progress at weekly lab meetings. Also presented at conferences.

Assisted with experiment programming and data collection for a human EEG study examining the effect of fear conditioning on neural responses to visual stimuli (Keil et al., 2013). Also performed various clerical and managerial duties such as: product ordering, interacting with collaborating labs, organizing lab meetings, and handling requests from labs around the world for use of the International Affective Picture System (IAPS).
