Member of team designing and implementing steam turbine control retrofits using Emerson Ovation DCS. Design Ovation hardware layout. Assist with factory acceptance tests with customer. Involved in customer kickoff meetings and design reviews. Interface with customers for database and system design. Edit and modify turbine control logic, graphics and database. Troubleshoot serial data links.Assisted with field service and commissioning of steam turbine and bypass DCS at OPG Atikokan Generating Station. Activities included IO checks, functional checks and commissioning of sub systems, commissioning of hydrauilic equipment. Worked with operators, electricians, and plant staff to test and live start pumps, valves, and other turbine systems. Provided startup Support at Longview Power. Provided Ovation support with logic and graphic modifications. Performed steam valve calibrations. Activities included IO checks, functional checks and commissioning of sub systems, commissioning of hydrauilic equipment. Troubleshot and repaired wiring to field devices. Designed controls for two hydraulic power units and new steam valve actuators for two Westinghouse boiler feed pump turbines. Provided startup and commissioning support for HPU logic and mechanicals. Assisted with mechanical commissioning and flush of new hydraulic system, including installation of servos, solenoid valves, flush blocks etc. Experience with Toshiba TOSMAP steam turbine control retrofits. Projecs consist of OEM Toshiba steam turbine control system replacement with Ovation DCS. Scope includes logic, graphics, and hardware. Hardware is replaced with Ovation IO, controllers, and valve positioners. Projects also include installation and comissioning of Woodward Protech overspeed devices, trip solenoid valve current monitoring system, and Emerson PLU modules.Emerson training for Ovation 3.5 (OV100, OV200, OV210)

Designed and constructed control and power systems for electrically heated molten aluminum vessels, including melters, holding furnaces, metal treatment systems, direct immersion heaters, and transportable ladles. Constructed control and power distribution panels. Designed and modified control logic for equipment. Tuned PID loops (cascade and single loop). Assisted in metal fabrication and machining for mechanical portions of furnaces and equipment. Created 3D models and drawings of equipment using Autodesk Inventor. Created electrical drawings and diagrams using AutoCad. Created 3D renderings for sales literature such as brochures, cut sheets and quotes. Assisted in cost builds and quotes for new equipment. Supervised and performed electrical/control commissioning of equipment in the field. Assisted with mechanical portion of equipment commissioning in the field. Performed field service and maintenance on equipment in the field. Participated in research and development activities in lab and in the field. Created numerous reports to analyze and summarize furnace performance. Performed maintenance on laboratory furnaces. Performed plasma flame spraying of heaters using Sulzer Metco plasma spraying and Fanuc robot equipment. Gained experience working around and with molten aluminum. Assised in molten metal pump changes, draining and charging of furnaces and melters. Loaded/Unloaded trucks, assisted with building maintenance. Maintained machine shop. Maintained fork trucks and other shop equipment.Assised in other research activities including water treatement devices.
