I attended 'Training Ship Mercury' on the river Hamble near Southampton from 1958 - 1961 and then joined the British Merchant Navy as a Deck Officer Cadet. I subsequently became a Purser with Palm Line.'Having swallowed the anchor' I worked for Redland Quarries and Rolls Royce Aero Engine Division before joining DRG as a Work Study Officer in Scotland, before transferring to Computers and eventually transferring to New Zealand as their IT Manager.Leaving DRG in 1978, I formed my own Software House (IMACS) followed by two successful IT recruitment companies (Aacorn International Ltd) and De Winter International Limited), before selling out in 2002 to concentrate on writing.
