Mike is a Health Physicist and Occupational Hygienist with over 35 years experience in the decommissioning of nuclear facilities, environmental site assessment & remediation and radioactive waste management. He chaired the Canadian Standards Association Technical Committee on Decommissioning of Nuclear Facilities from 2015 to 2021 and continues to serve as a member of that committee as well as the CSA Technical Committee on Environmental Protection for Nuclear Facilities. He participated in an IAEA Technical Co-operation Mission to Pakistan in 2018-19 and previously served on an ISO Working Group of Characterization of Radioactive Waste. He is a Past-President of both the Canadian Radiation Protection Association and the Occupational Hygiene Association of Ontario and will be President-Elect of the Decommissioning Section of the Health Physics Society for 2022-23.Mike received the Harold A. Smith Award for Outstanding Contributions from the Canadian Nuclear Society in 2022, the Award of Merit from the Canadian Standards Association in 2016 and the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Canadian Radiation Protection Association in 2010.
