I have over 38 years of experience in the drinking water industry. My experience and professional perspective on drinking water has been formed from an array of regulatory, utility, and private consulting experiences. My current position is the General Manager of West Slope Water District. With a staff of seven employees, West Slope serves water to nearly 11,000 people through 3,230 customer accounts. As a senior consulting engineer, I have worked on projects focused on water treatment plant optimization, effective utility management, and water and energy efficiency. Before my consulting work, I worked for public water utilities for over six years as a Senior Engineer in charge of capital improvement projects, capital improvement plan (CIP) budgets, and water engineering operating budgets. I began my career as a water quality engineer and Regional Manager for what is now the Oregon Health Authority. Over the years, I have helped hundreds of water systems achieve and maintain compliance with drinking water regulations, resolve water quality problems, and discover pathways toward water treatment plant optimization. In 2009, I launched a new business called Aquamize, LLC. Aquamize is dedicated to seeking ways to optimize water treatment plant performance, water distribution system operations, and overall water utility management. The mission of Aquamize is to help water utilities effectively and efficiently manage their utility for on-going sustainable success. Aquamize helps utilities maximize the use existing infrastructure by increasing performance and extending its useful life with a secondary benefit of deferring immediate capital expenditures to replace that infrastructure.
