Key responsibilities:• Analysing the financial performance of 14 separate Distribution Network Operators (‘DNO’s’). Key tasks included the investigation and normalisation of historical financial performance to present a consistent and comparable operating cost base for each DNO;• Analysing and restating each DNO’s historical capital expenditure to achieve a consistent and comparable Regulatory Asset Value, a key number in the context of establishing the electricity price for the period 2005 to 2010;• Contributing to the continued development of regulatory policy and incentive schemes for the electricity distribution industry;• Investigation and review of potential regulatory implications arising from the 1 Jan 2005 adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards;• Design of the DNO financial information request used as the primary source of information for the Distribution Price Control Review.

Working in the Assurance division, my primary responsibility was as lead engagement manager for PaperlinX Limited, at the time a Top 100 ASX listed company operating in the paper manufacturing / merchanting industry. Prior to the demerger of PaperlinX Limited from Amcor Limited, I was lead engagement manager for the Australian Paper division of Amcor and the Amcor Corporate reporting team. Engagement responsibilities: • domestic and international co-ordination of all statutory and local reporting requirements;• management of a domestic team of two junior managers and 12 audit staff;• responsible for the audit (including initial creation) of complex consolidation / de-consolidation entries; • preparation of reports of findings for the Finance Director / Audit and Compliance Committee detailing matters such as accounting advice in relation to contentious accounting issues, performance improvement opportunities;• research and presentation of papers in relation to the interpretation of accounting standards;• engagement budgeting and cost analysis; • Due diligence investigations in relation to the acquisition of paper merchants and the disposal of plantation and raw material trading operations;• preparation and evaluation of historical and forecast information for an initial public offer (Australian ASX listing) and offer document for the acquisition of a listed competitor; • design and evaluation of the effectiveness of internal control procedures.• preparation and review of statutory financial reports for listed and unlisted companies to ensure compliance with all applicable legislative and accounting requirements;• identification and analysis of critical success factors and key performance indicators to evaluate the financial and non financial performance of the organisation; and• on-the-job coaching, individual performance assessment and counselling of junior team members.
