At a time when the U.S. Army was transitioning to digital video editing and no one in my company had any training in this, we received a state of the art Avid digital video editing suite. Although I had virtually no experience with computers, I worked my way through the manual and quickly learned how to use the system. For the next few years I was the company's primary video editor for all operations, including two major NATO training exercises. During this period I also began to train others in the use of the Avid system.
