I paint unique, sensually vibrant, occasionally bizarre, urban landscapes or cityscapes usually of Manchester in the North of England thereby following in the tradition of Valette, L.S. Lowry and others. My paintings eclectically pool a diverse range of post-impressionist influences. They have been used promotionally by the University of Lancaster, the University of Manchester, in pop videos, in magazines, on the covers of books and made into postcards by the Manchester Tourist Office. They are exhibited regularly in the Northwest of England, and are in private collections around the world.On my website at www.michaelgutteridge.com there is a large collection of over 100 such paintings, usually of urban landscapes, which I am open to being used in any number of ways and I am willing to undertake commissions to create new works for new projects. The above image is an example which was used as a book jacket cover for Lancaster University's Postcolonial Manchester project. I have a strong familiarity with the North West of England and am particularly, though not exclusively, eager to work with projects connected to the region.
