Member of a team that founded a new college-prep high school in the heart of the San Fernando Valley. As AP World History teacher, designed and taught six AP World history courses that incorporated college level scholarly articles, literature, experiential learning, and elements of project based learning. As Assistant Director, facilitated transition to a new charter management organization (iLEAD) and from a site-based to a hybrid independent study model. As part of transition, trained staff on independent study compliance, the use of online platforms such as Google Classroom and Google Drive, NWEA Measures of Academic Progress testing, and provided ongoing professional development and coaching on student centered instructional practices such as project-based learning and the flipped classroom. Other responsibilities included serving as AP Coordinator, designing the master schedule, overseeing curriculum and instruction, supporting operations, IT support, marketing, and student conduct.Instituted conferencing model school-wide that involved parents and students in the dissemination of data and goal setting through individual conferences with every student enrolled. Collaboratively created and taught a 10th grade humanities course that incorporated literature into the history curriculum that raised the Tenth Grade’s pass rate on the Global History Regents to 67%. Developed systems for student self-tracking, data analysis, and reflection that led to an average growth of 1.5 points on the Regents essay rubric and were used as a model and adopted in other classrooms. Classroom was one of several model classrooms used to pioneer and implement a teacher/student data conferencing model.Facilitated and led “grade team meetings” where educators met to develop and implement strategies to positively impact student learning. Participated in Grade Team Leader meetings to collaborate with administration on creating and implementing new strategies to boost student achievement that led to largest uptick in student credit accumulation in school’s history. Developed excel spreadsheets and systems for data tracking and analysis that were used school-wide. Participated in coaching and reflection sessions with Principal and head Urban Assembly instructional coach that were video-recorded for use in professional development on instructional coaching in other schools. Mentored and coached first and second year colleagues on the use of data in planning, instruction, and curriculum design.

Collaborated to create two humanities blocks that targeted incoming students with low literacy that incorporated the Read 180 Reading Intervention Software Program in conjunction with data tracking and analysis which led to a growth of 1 3⁄4 grade levels in reading and 1.5 points on the Regents essay rubric. In Spring 2011, created an after school tutoring program for high performing students that enabled 92% to achieve proficiency levels on state tests.As member of school’s Literacy Team, a teacher created initiative, developed and administered three school-wide professional developments on incorporating literacy strategies across the disciplines. Developed a 1 1⁄2 year global history curriculum that was implemented school-wide. Received training on and helped implement Prosper Assessment System for data tracking.
