Michael's practice includes patent litigation and patent prosecution, and he has considerable knowledge and experience in post-grant proceedings, including inter-partes review (IPR) and ex parte reexamination. Conversant in virtually every aspect of intellectual property, Michael becomes a valued member of the client’s team and a genuinely trusted advisor. Michael counsels clients developing a broad range of technologies, including semiconductor devices and manufacturing, integrated circuits, green energy, terahertz electronics, hardware and protocols for wireless communications, digital media and storage, optical systems and devices, electro-mechanical systems, and Internet-based commerce and security software. Although much of his work is with large multinational clients with complex patent portfolios, Michael also has a significant practice with smaller high-technology clients, ranging from startups to growth companies dealing with patent issues for the first time in their evolution.With a substantial technical and scientific background, one of Michael’s particular strengths is an ability to both understand the underlying technology at issue as well as the legal and strategic aspects of his cases. Using this as a foundation, Michael is skilled at communicating complicated concepts in ways that can be understood by his clients, judges, and other stakeholders alike.
