Managed distributed server migrations including Solaris, AIX, Wintel, VMwareplatforms from the West St., NY data center to the Orangeburg, NY data center.Created project plans and co-ordinated task dependencies required for successful migrations including hardware installations, network infrastructure and IP address assignments, storage allocations, database installations, application data migration, backup configuration and reclaim of old infrastructure for eventual decommission.Collaborated with infrastructure teams to expedite work flow, escalated issues to the appropriate management stream and ensured accuracy of final configurations.Executed migrations according to master plan, performed risk mitigation to avoid outagesand conflicts with scheduled downtimes of related servers. Balanced migrations to ensureinfrastructure teams could accommodate workload and ensured proper resource availabilityin the event of problems.Initiated new distributed server installations across multiple data centers, gathered andreviewed requirements, managed client expectations and status reporting and monitoredall assigned infrastructure teams to ensure they completed their assigned tasks as scheduled.. Ensured that clients validated configurations and functionality through the quality control process upon delivery.Scheduled and coordinated break/fix work on the servers with data center infrastructure teams, SAs and clients to ensure hardware and software problems were resolved as soon as possible.

Manager SAN Resource Planning and Provisioning team. Managed staff of 8 storage administrators located in multiple regional locations supporting provisioning in 12 data centers. The environment consisted of 36PB of raw storage, 51,000 ports on 13 Cisco fabrics using MDS 9513 director class switches, 12,840 servers with AIX, Windows, Linux, Solaris and VMware servers. Performed demand management activities to review utilization, growth projections and available capacity to ensure cost effective implementation assuring a current utilization level of approximately 65% with 6 month growth projections. Collaborated with internal development teams enhancing technology forecasting and workflow applications ensuring our requirements were incorporated. Improved provisioning SLA time to 5-10 days by enforcing server configuration standards which minimized re-work and expedited completion of 150 to 200 requests per week. Enforced tiering, replication standards and SAN stack component standards for all SAN requests. This improved completion time and minimized re-work by SAN and systems administration teams in order to meet the 5-10 day SLA. Negotiated with global regional teams in EMEA, ASPAC and LATAM to incorporate common standards across all regions. Partnered with project management and application teams on SAN re-tiering efforts to migrate non-critical data to lower cost storage. Over 18 months migrated 1.3PB of storage resulting in approximate cost savings of $1.4 million. Facilitated compliance with resource management audit by reviewing and updating all procedures and documentation. All audit findings were resolved and a satisfactory rating was achieved.

Manager Distributed Storage Integration Group. Managed staff supporting SAN infrastructure integration in 12 Citigroup North America data centers. Supported the firm’s SAN storage projects, implementing infrastructure installations and upgrades, budgeting and procurement of new infrastructure capacity based on business requirements. Managed storage vendor relationships for procurement, SOWs and consulting services. Partnered with systems administration teams and businesses on overcoming resistance to migrating locally attached storage to SAN storage by re-enforcing the firm’s strategic goals of reducing support and data center footprint costs by several million dollars.Collaborated with SAN support and engineering teams, systems administration, application developers and data center infrastructure teams to ensure requirements were addressed and standards were enforced.

Managed a staff of 7 Unix Systems Administrators supporting over 200 Sun server and desktop client workstations supporting Corporate and Infrastructure environments in 7 World Trade Center, New York and Rutherford, New Jersey. Oversaw hardware and software installation and upgrades, monitoring, procurement, troubleshooting, COB testing and day to day support of the production and development environments. Managed migration of Mortgage and CMO server and desktop environments from 1 New York Plaza data center to 7 World Trade Center data center. Pioneered distributed server inventory which was incorporated into centralized application database for maintaining firm’s server inventory and hardware and software configurations which enabled system administration teams to better manage system upgrades, end of life management and track revision levels. Partnered with Unix engineering and integration teams for successful roll out of Standard Operating Environment builds for all Unix servers and desktops which standardized OS levels, patch releases, file system layouts, kernel configurations, software package installation and upgrade procedures across the firm. Supported Mortgage and CMO business disaster recovery efforts during 1993 WTC bombing which impacted power to the 7WTC building.

Provided Unix Systems Administration support on Sun platform for five labs in the Science & Technology facility in White Plains, NY. Maintained hardware, software and network infrastructure for centralized Sun servers and desktops.
