I was brought in to lead developer productivity and tooling across the company. My time was unfortunately cut short by a round of layoffs.

I lead the build and CI infrastructure team supporting Autopilot.

Primary technologies: Java, Groovy, Spring, Linux, Docker, AWS* Led initiative on continuous delivery, revamping our build process from long-lived integration branches to isolated feature branches that ship quickly. Evaluated new build servers to support this workflow, installed the new software, and managed migration of builds.* Managed a team of 5 interns, serving as mentor and back-end tech lead. Conducted one-on-ones and presented lectures on Git workflow, REST concepts, and web application architecture.* Implemented a cloud deployment pipeline using AWS and Docker. Shepherded the team through the process of Dockerizing their applications and getting them into the cloud with standardized logging, monitoring, and alerting. Converted the main script from a monolithic Bash script into a componentized Java/Groovy application with unit tests.* Introduced various quality-of-life improvements: replaced Maven with Gradle, introduced Checkstyle.

Iterated quickly in an agile (Scrum) environment, working closely with QC, UI/UX, and product management.* Developed our Android app through five releases.* Introduced automated tests for a crucial application component to guard against regressions. Improved functionality via a test-driven approach.* Evangelized Git and provided one-on-one training to other engineers.

Wrote unit, acceptance, and integration tests using jUnit, FitNesse, and Selenium in a test-driven environment.* Built a component of an inventory management system that integrates with UPS shipment web services and maps response data to application objects.* Designed and built HTML/CSS-based prototypes for demos to executives and business users.

Primary technologies: Visual Basic, SQL, JavaScript* Decreased the runtime of a vital program by 99.7% while improving its readability and maintainability. This program, which is used company-wide, queries the issue-tracking databases and emails concise, personalized change lists to each user.* Developed a database-backed application that scheduled and executed nightly updates of over 7000 client-facing reports.* Successfully advocated and implemented project-wide adoption of Subversion for statisticians' SAS code. Presented demos to senior project leadership and corporate VPs; conducted training sessions for individuals and small groups.

* Improved productivity project-wide by advocating a programmatic approach to QC of reports and data sets, using a GUI-driven SAS front end.
