Michael Halicki believes in the power of parks. For 10 years, he has served as the Executive Director of Park Pride, an Atlanta-based nonprofit that empowers local communities to activate the power of parks. During his 10-year tenure, Michael has led the organization through periods of significant growth, now working with 100+ Friends of the Park groups to provide the leadership, services and funding needed to help communities realize their dreams for quality, accessible neighborhood parks. Under his leadership, Park Pride has received the Charity Navigator's 4-Star Designation and the Platinum Seal of Transparency by Candid (formerly GuideStar) for several years running. In 2019 and 2023, he was recognized as one of Georgia Trend Magazine's Notable Georgians, and from 2019 – 2023, he has been included in The Atlanta 500, Atlanta Magazine’s list of Atlanta’s most influential leaders. He earned his graduate degree in nonprofit management from Georgia State’s Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. He is also a graduate of the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership and the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Regional Leadership Institute. Additionally, Michael serves on The Livable Communities Council of the Urban Land Institute – Atlanta and recently joined Atlanta's Civic Collaboratory, an initiative of the Arthur Blank Family Foundation, Atlanta History Center and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights.
