I also deputise for my line manager in his absence; the aim is to maintain routine office management and provide the Head of Department (HoD) with a weekly brief to summarise activities, trials and issues that are expected within the next week.I represent the company at a variety of meetings with MoD counterparts and industry partners. I was directly responsible for managing personnel that maintained numerous electrical, electronic and hydraulic systems. I was also responsible for training within the department. The training involved consolidation elements, career development, safety awareness and professional development that included leadership tasks. Within my time onboard I develop 4 individuals so that they were successfully selected for promotion. I had various secondary roles onboard that included: a. Laser Safety b. Explosive/munition safety. c. Engineering and capability advise to the Commanding Officer during platform emergencies. d. Maintain Safe Systems of Work and educate on such matters.I was involved in several projects including the planning and execution of maintenance packages that would be undertake in UK and foreign ports. The planning of these usually started 4 months prior to the commencement and my primary role would be to identify all the routine maintenance that would be required, produce a defect list and remedial action required based on inspections and to co-ordinate stores required.I was often involved in numerous short notice projects such as the implementation of a new satellite communication system whilst on operations. My role was to liaise closely with the project manager to ensure form a ships perspective the installation and testing adhered to the installation time line. The equipment fit was intrusive and the onboard management varied from arranging daily meetings, vacating compartments and re-locating personnel, producing a ships plan to sustain and support the shift working contractors, arranging the inspections and supporting the inspecting officer.
