Responsible for administering AIX and Linux servers, and for managing IBM POWER hardware. I'm also responsible for process automation and procedures developement.

Responsible for pre-sales support of POWER sales specialists, for customers that run AIX, Linux on POWER, and/or IBM i (AS/400). I worked with clients to determine their technical needs, create configurations, and worked with the IBM salesman and IBM Business Partners to help the client decide how to best meet their needs. Often my work involved analyzing the performance and usage of the clients' current servers.

Responsible for daily management and problem resolution of up to 100 AIX servers. I was the architect of Sprint's AIX virtualization infrastructure and after implementation was responsible for overall performance and capacity balancing of 600 servers. I also helped develop group standards, processes, and automation for managing the servers. I was responsible for establishing a team wiki to efficiently handle information about individual servers, processes, job aids, and other technical information needed by the team. From May 2002 through October 2005 I was was on the Linux administration team. I served as the technical lead of the task force chartered to investigate options for formal use of Linux at Sprint, determine a hardware platform, and develop standards and procedures. After the selection I served as the lead systems administrator on the Linux team.For 12 years of my career at Sprint I was also on the team that tested and certified new IBM hardware and OS versions, and developed procedures for updates and implementations.

From June 1996 until I left Lockheed in 1997 I was on the development team for a general purpose 6U VME bus single board computer. I was the technical lead for software development -- diagnostics, operating system, and utilities -- and personally ported VxWorks to the new computer, which included writing device drivers and debugging hardware problems.From January 1996 to May 1996 I was the sole software developer for a intelligent LCD designed for general aviation use. I developed the low-level graphics routines, functional displays, and thedemonstration program used during technical conferences and sales.

I wrote the low-level graphics routines and the memory management system, developed fonts, and built system build and version control tools for an embedded graphics server for use in anti-submarine helicopters.
