I develop Google's product policies (including AI policies) that protect users from harmful ads. This involves rapidly understanding emerging threats to users, working with regulators to promote online safety, and ensuring Google is not inadvertently profiting from people abusing its products.Previously at Meta, I developed the policies that moderate content on the world's largest social media platform. In doing so, I balanced the values of free expression, public safety, data privacy, human dignity, and authenticity to arrive at an ethical outcome. I also managed a team focused on expanding external oversight and accountability of social media companies. We presented Meta's perspective on significant and difficult cases to the Oversight Board, an independent regulatory body. When the Oversight Board issued a decision on these cases, we worked to implement that decision on content and amend Meta's policies in line with the board's guidance. I do my best to be an ally and anti-racist. Part of this is actively making a more equitable environment where everyone can succeed. I'm also a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, avid outdoor person, and dabbler in improv comedy. Some of my skills are: People Management | Leading Diverse Teams | Building Teams | Policy Development | AI Policy | Cross-functional Collaboration | Writing | Policy Analysis | Project Management | Content Moderation | Incident Response | Escalation Management | Upward and Lateral Communication | Intelligence Analysis | Public Speaking | Briefing | Risk Management | Risk Assessment | Counterterrorism | Forecasting Geopolitical Events
