I love working as a CIO. My favorite CIO job would be one in which I take over an under-performing team and over time patiently build it into a high-performing team. That is how things have gone with my last three jobs. My approach is to build from the inside out, focusing on the IT team. It’s not about me; it’s all about the team. While building up the team, it is critical that the CIO also build strong working relationships and building trust with other leaders across the company, particularly those who rely heavily on technology.
