Mr. Heibel was born in San Antonio at Brooke Army Medical Center, and although raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, he always had aspirations to return to Texas.During high school, he found a passion for politics while working for Nebraska Congressman Jeff Fortenberry. Growing up an avid Texas Longhorn fan, Michael chose to attend another Nebraska rival university, and matriculated to the University of Wisconsin–Madison. During his four years at Wisconsin, he worked in a social psychology lab focused on prejudice and stereotypes, specifically focused on negating preconceived notions. Michael graduated from Wisconsin in May, 2016, and, having decided on a career in law, he moved to Dallas to work for Jim Burnham, former First Chair of Dallas District Attorney Henry Wade, who prosecuted Jack Ruby following his murder of Lee Harvey Oswald. During his time there, Mr. Heibel worked on State and Federal cases particularly involving white-collar crimes.Taking the Wisconsin motto of “commitment to work hard and surrounding yourself with people you care about” to heart with him to Texas, Michael graduated from Baylor Law School as a Baylor Law Leadership Fellow in 2019.Focused on civil defense, Mr. Heibel has been working for business and commercial litigation firms in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex since 2018.Michael’s ability to connect with others and oral advocacy skills have helped him obtain multiple defense favored verdicts on his own in Dallas County, Harris County and surrounding counties.Michael is a determined attorney, telling clients, “It’s not about believing in yourself, but knowing yourself, and refusing to take no as an answer.”
