Engineering Intern/Co-Op

This was a co-op program alternating between school and work, where I spent one rotation in test engineering and the next in services engineering.· Lead implementation of bearing production cleanliness change in design of 30+ parts by consulting subject matter experts regarding proper specifications. Cleanliness specifications were presented and approved for next stage initiative.· Created a one-dimensional flow model of an oil manifold using fluid pressure/velocity test measurements. Model was validated against 3 other datasets at different temperatures and was used for interpolation and extrapolation to understand nozzle exit velocity at various conditions.· Completed a load analysis for a proposed change in design to reduce tooling costs. Analysis was conducted by reading engineering drawings, Microsoft Excel, and Finite Element Analysis for 7 parts which resulted in the proposed change not meeting proper load requirements due to safety concerns.· Conducted analysis for pressure, flow, and temperature limits of fuel/oil drain pipes, for 3 integrated drive generator configurations using basic thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and Microsoft Excel. Results were used to validate proposed generator configuration for future aircraft.· Solved a temperature drift problem for a pressure transducer using AN standard pneumatic systems, thermocouples, LabVIEW (writing/reading/debugging code), and NI Data Acquisition systems. Transducer was subject to varying temperature and pressure conditions with results being presented to the calibration team and documented.· Created a humidity test chamber to replicate appropriate flight conditions attributing to improper sensor readings. Chamber underwent hydrostatic testing and was set up with a humidity probe, high pressure water pump, air heater, PID controller, electronics, and pneumatics. Chamber was then used in future lab tests.· Responsible for writing 3 test requests, 1 full test report, 2 presentations.
