Michael moved to Alaska and joined the Architects Alaska team in 2002. He has 25 years of experience with new building construction, additions to existing buildings, and renovation of existing buildings. His role at Architects Alaska has evolved from Project Designer to Project Manager, to Principal Architect / Vice President. Throughout his career, he has strived to exercise a hands-on, open, collaborative process with design, seeking to fully understand client’s needs and visions, always seeking to find the alignment of project goals. The intersection of vision, function, aesthetics, budget, and schedule, imbued with creativity and experience. He is adept at synthesizing program with organizational and spatial flow, seeking an architectural solution that fits the time and place, making the most of current technology and material science, while addressing environmental and energy sustainability. He manages the consultant team with the same open, collaborative approach to ensure that the program’s functional and sustainable requirement are achieved. He has experience with the complete range of architectural services from pre-design programming, educational specifications development, and facility master planning, through all phases of formal design services, execution of construction documents, project bidding, and construction administrative services. Michael enjoys an outdoors lifestyle in Alaska, living on a mountainside, with several pets and his life partner. He finds pleasure in planning international travel trips. His travels aim to discover beauty in nature, and examples of fantastic architecture, be it historical, modern, vernacular or landmark. In the process, a crucial part of the experience is being open to the random, everyday moments and encounters with people that make life beautiful. These experiences always provide a feedback loop that informs his life's passion- architecture.
