Audits range from self-initiated to Congressional Inquiries to Hotlines - with a focus on healthcare and contracting. Additional responsibilities include: ** Leading and managing a team of auditors in planning, surveying, and executing audits. ** Developing project budgets, travel estimates, project milestones and team training requirements. ** Recommending courses of action or additional actions to ensure adequate performance of audits. ** Developing senior and junior audit staff career paths.- recently oversaw audits related to opioid prescriptions, ambulance transport reimbursements, contracts related to small business subcontracting limitations, contracts related to support of Afghanistan evacuees and maintenance contracts in support of Ukraine, and finally reviewing contracts for medical equipment and supplies in response to the COVID. - oversaw a team of auditors reviewing delinquent medical debt. Reviewed the entire revenue cycle, identified control weaknesses and over $70 million in potential monetary benefit. Project won a CIGIE Report of the Year. - oversaw a team of auditors reviewing DoD telecommunication contracts. Identified significant control weaknesses, over $200 million in improper payments, and $3.3 million in potential monetary benefit. Project won a CIGIE Report of the Year. - oversaw a team of auditors reviewing a $800+ million contract, identifying significant control weaknesses, $162 million in potential improper payments, and over $5 million in overpayments. - For past 14 years, served as lead recruiter for Columbus Audit Field Office. Since 2018 recruited over 60 auditors. - Serves as mentor to numerous new employees in field offices across US and the world.

- Executed and oversaw audit work in the contracts and healthcare payments arena, in accordance with GAGAS and IG Audit policies. Ensured the organizations strategic plan, mission, and values were communicated to the audit team and integrated into audit plans and work products.- Served as project lead (acting Project Manager and Team Leader) on four DoD Healthcare Related audits, which identified over $100 million in potential monetary benefits. Series continued after promotion to Project Manager, and by utilizing the audit plan I developed, continued to identify monetary benefits for two additional audits. Identified significant control weaknesses at Medical Treatment Facilities for collecting delinquent medical debt.- Served as team leader on review of small business contracting within DoD. Entrusted by management to think outside the box and identify control weaknesses not previously considered. Led to the identification of related party contracting and contracting with excluded parties. Over $4 million was put to better use.- Coached team members in selection of appropriate problem solving methods, identification of training, team building, career development, and conflict resolution.- Co-championed the establishment of the first IG audit team dedicated to address fraud, waste and abuse by using advanced analytic tools and techniques. Laid the ground work to the continuous development of a data analytics team within the organization.

- Served in an Acting Team Leader function on two audits, resulting in three audit reports regarding contract management and training requirements for deploying troops; developed one factsheet, which was incorporated into the audit plan; and oversaw and led 6 staff.- Independently planned, organized, and prioritized work for assigned objectives and developed portions of survey and audit guides for objectives assigned, while utilizing knowledge of auditing principles/theories and delegating assignments to team members.- Developed a reputation as a hard-working senior auditor that is capable of exceeding expectations and serving as an effective acting team leader.- Served as both a senior auditor and acting Team Leader, assuming the responsibilities of independently developing audit steps and the audit guide to ensure the Services were effectively implementing the required U.S. Central Command pre-deployment training requirements- Suggested an effective strategic approach on how to review contracts in a timely manner to provide the deploying team real-time results. This approach included reviewing those Commands with the smallest amount of documentation first, and then move to the more complex Commands. - Performed three audits (financial management and contract management) and prepared portions of the draft and final reports to include background, condition, cause and effect, and appendices. - For the contract management audit, I was on the team that performed a follow-on audit to one of the biggest procurement scandals at the Pentagon. Worked above my junior auditor grade and helped in identifying that Air Force personnel did not adequately document the decision process used to award the C-5 Avionics Modernization Program contract. - Responsible for independently reviewing and performing account reconciliations on over 50 accounts, a majority of which contained over 4 years of documentation. As recognition for my work, I received a letter of commendation from the agency for my ability to reconcile accounts that many senior officials were unable to reconcile.- Earned respect from management and peers because of my willingness to accept greater responsibilities and work with new teams.
