Key responsibilities included:1) Building and maintaining a Network Quality Model (NQM) to provide a high-level view of the Nationwide branches with infrastructure issues, which could impact on sales or service performance.2) Supporting senior management in constructing a branch network strategy that complements an integrated multi-channel strategy.3) Delivering Location Solution Reviews for branches identified by a NQM to have issues which are impacting on performance.4) Provide a strategic direction to the branch network investment budget to prioritise annual expenditure in excess of £10m to deliver on the network’s ambitions.5) Supporting individual investment projects by creating compelling business cases in order to gain budgetary sign-off from Executive Director.6) Providing support to colleagues in producing highly detailed board papers.Key achievements included:1) Helped to develop the infrastructure investment plan for the Branch Network in 2010/11 to ensure that a budget of £10.8m was spent in a manner aligned to the network strategy.2) Supported the team in producing a review of branch closure candidates which led to a contribution of £2m in savings to the Cost Optimisation Programme.3) Overhauled the branch investment facilities brief which increase automation and helped eliminate many of the errors in the previous version. Through liaison with all stakeholders the brief evolved into a more comprehensive model that drove greater value from investment decisions and increased buy-in from all departments involved in the completion of individual site reviews.4) Produced a regular performance review paper delivered to the Executive Director Committee, completed to a level which received consistently positive feedback.

Key responsibilities included:1) Completion of Business Area Strategic Performance Review (BASPR) documents for Group Distribution.2) Act as Nationwide’s representative with an external benchmarking consultancy, providing accurate information on Nationwide performance across all distribution channels and disseminate the output of the benchmark to the relevant senior management.3) Maintain a library of information and utilise it to support strategic decision making across Group Distribution.4) Assist with development of channel usage and capacity forecasting.Key achievements included:1) Liaised with Heads of Department across all business channels in Group Distribution to assist with compiling their strategic delivery and ambitions into an easy to understand format. This required me to learn a vast amount about areas of the business I had no previous experience in order to effectively assemble the document, all to tight timescales. All BASPRs that I completed were delivered on time and received positive feedback from the senior management involved.

Key responsibilities included:1) Supporting a department through regular and ad-hoc performance reporting for the Nationwide ATM estate.2) Liaising with external reporting companies to meet regulatory reporting requirements.3) Retain in-depth knowledge of industry and competitor activity to support senior management with ATM strategy development.4) Provide financial appraisal of proposed investment decisions and review of previous investments.Key achievements included:1) Built numerous database systems in Microsoft Access that generated significant resource savings for the department. One of these automated a number of standard work requests the department received into a single database with a simple user interface system, which helped to save approximately 35 hours of work per month for the ATM Performance Management team.2) Rebuilt a financial appraisal model that provided colleagues with the ability to build a strong business case for proposed investment decisions. In the period prior to this model an outdated system meant that investments were not being appropriately appraised and resulted in a number of loss-making contracts which were impacting on The Society’s profitability.
