Collections Attorney

- Lead diverse high volume collection practice with footprints in 7 States including New York and New Jersey and a national network of local counsel.- Collaborate with process development, operations and compliance departments to optimize system efficiencies and minimize organizational and regulatory risk.- Communicate clearly and effectively with employees and clients.- Oversee caseload of over 15,000 active matters annually, determining the department’s overall case strategy - Manage collection cases from inception through judgment enforcement– locating defendants, analyzing financial state, negotiating settlement and any necessary litigation - Direct all aspects of the litigation process, including discovery, motion practice, advocacy, settlement and appeals - Draft pleadings, summary judgment motions, affidavits, discovery and comprehensive agreements - Communicate with clients on a weekly and monthly basis to assess progress towards goals, revise strategy, and update them on reconciliations and complaints - Oversee the on-boarding and off-boarding of local counsel and maintaining outside vendor relationships - Partner with the Call & Collect division of the department to ensure continuity of talk offs and legal strategy. - Negotiate resolutions of disputes of up to $2 million and resolve complex counterclaims with opposing counsel - Consult with in-house counsel and local counsel on all active matters to reach optimal outcome for clients
