I am a unique individual with a knack for computers with a background in police science. At first, you may think Criminal Justice education would not be useful. However, I have discovered how very useful it has become. It gave me Communication Skills, Critical Thinking Skills, and Problem Solving Skills. How I use my CJ background has made me stand out and be very effective:1. Draw from my CJ background using my conflict resolution training and the acronyms I keep in the back of my head of OIR and KISS from that to keep me consistent, and efficient.a. Opening-Information gathering-Resolution b. Keep-It-Simple-Stupid2. Be clear and precise with my word choice. 3. Adjust level of technicality to the caller and audience, after explaining something, check to make sure they understood.4. Always have the attitude of “I’m here to help you” never bark at people to do things.5. Use verbal judo to deescalate an upset caller. It is very difficult to help someone if they are upset. If I have to I will let them get it out of their system then call them back to help.6. Always have carrots. Never rely on just stick. People will respond to assistance, not orders.7. Always follow up.
