Michael Huggins is Of Counsel in the Trial and Litigation Practice Group of Meyers Nave. He advises and represents clients in all stages of high value and complex disputes, from pre-litigation through appeal. Michael has been recognized by Best Lawyers Ones to Watch in 2023 and 2024 for his work in Commercial Litigation and in Insurance Law.Michael’s clients appreciate his ability to simplify complex issues of law and to present clients’ positions in impactful and compelling narratives. Through such efforts, Michael has been able to resolve difficult disputes concerning wildfires, hazardous spills, supply chain and other business interruptions, and more. Michael has recovered millions of dollars for clients under insurance contracts, indemnification and hold-harmless agreements, and other provisions of law.Michael is experienced in efficiently conducting discovery, including through e-discovery, identifying key evidence, and developing sound legal strategy for trial and appeal. He uses an array of procedural tools and motion practice to take a proactive approach to presenting clients’ positions early and often to the court throughout the litigation, which has resulted in an expedient resolution of many cases.Michael began his legal career as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of California. Prior to joining Meyers Nave, he worked at big law firms representing several Fortune 500 clients, including most recently at one of the world’s largest law firms. During law school, Michael interned at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York and externed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
