The Director supervises five divisions of the Community and Economic Development Department including the Planning, Building and Safety, Code Enforcement, Economic Development and Housing Divisions. The Department consists of 15 full-time and 2 part-time employees with an annual budget of $3,000,000. The Director functions as the liaison to the City Manager and City Council on land use, planning (current planning/zoning and long-range planning), environmental, building and safety, economic development, housing, and code enforcement issues. Responsible for staffing the Planning Commission, Design Review Board, Economic Development Advisory Commission and the Business Improvement District meetings. Additionally, the Director functions as the liaison between the City and outside agencies including the surrounding cities, County of Los Angeles, Metropolitan Transit Authority, San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments, San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership, LAEDC, SCAG and other agencies.
