Professor at University of Calgary, Department of Biological Sciences. Teach Microbial Ecology, Microbial Genetics and Genomics and Virology. My lab does research on the genetics of rhizobia (bacteria that form nitrogen fixing nodules on legumes), including work on plasmids, horizontal gene transfer, bacteriophages, and chemotaxis and motility. Officially retired July 1, 2023, but still doing some teaching and busy in the lab. Enthusiastic amateur musician (Jazz trumpet) and skier.
