Michael Igbinoba Email and Phone Number
I am an Undergraduate Researcher at Princeton University and a Scientific Researcher with a passion for atmospheric sciences and machine learning. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science/Geosciences + Machine Learning at Princeton, where I joined a primarily graduate-level research group headed by Gabriel Vecchi, a renowned expert in climate science and impacts. I have also completed courses at the University of Chicago, Loyola University Chicago, and Brown University, enhancing my academic and professional skills. As an Undergraduate Researcher and a Scientific Researcher, I have been involved in multiple projects related to climate change, extreme weather, and data-driven solutions. I have conducted data analysis, statistical modeling, and presentation of results using various tools and frameworks, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Python, R, and MATLAB. I have also authored several abstracts and papers. I am motivated by the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and the development of innovative applications that can address the pressing challenges of our time, such as climate change. I value collaboration, diversity, and curiosity, and I seek to join teams that share these values and can offer me a stimulating and supportive environment to grow and learn.

Research InternshipUniversity Of Miami Rosenstiel School Of Marine, Atmospheric And Earth Science Jun 2024 - PresentMiami, Florida, United StatesThe research project I will partake in aims to delve into the intricate dynamics and moist physics characterizing the upper-level outflow and cirrus canopy enveloping tropical cyclones (TCs). Additional collaborating teams from the University of Toronto and the University of Miami will leverage airborne Doppler radar observations, dropsonde measurements, satellite imagery, and high-resolution computer simulations to unravel the three-dimensional configuration of the outflow, encompassing adjacent inflow layers, mass and moisture budgets, and moisture exchange dynamics with the lower stratosphere. Preliminary findings hint at moisture injection into the stratosphere via convective towers, potentially altering its water budget. Focused on elucidating the TC's structure, dynamics, and moisture budgets across altitudes from approximately 400 hPa (8 km) to 40 hPa (22 km), this project promises deeper insights into these critical atmospheric phenomena. -
