I work as head of engineering for Ding. My role comprises of leading a team of over 30 engineers across web, app and backend. I work closely with product, QA as well as the other technology leads within the company to ensure best practices in all areas such as app features as well as security, monitoring and data. I work to make sure a timely and effecient process between the teams exists as well as promoting the engineering department within the company. Part of my role is developing the tech stack and looking for tecnical improvements that will drive the team and company forward toward our shared goals.Hiring, onboarding and mentoring are important in my role. Some recent tecnical achievements are a migration of our web stack to bitbucket pipelines and Gatsby cloud as well as pushing forward a cloud first initiative within Ding including containerization and azure migrations. I work closely with the CTO to drive the strategy of engineering within technology. Estimations and reporting to stakeholders are important within my role.

My role comprised of co-ordination of web developers across 3 teams. I worked to make sure a timely and effecient process between the teams.In this role I developed a real passion for UX and one the parts of my role I enjoyed best is seeing a new UI feature go from an idea to design to development and finally to the customer. I have gained very good UI experience and work closely with the design team as well as product on each project.We use Kanban here and I have good experience with this as well as Agile.I have vast experience with SEO, analytics and web performance and have performance at the forefront of my thoughts in particular. My role requires a data driven approach to our processes and I particularly enjoy digging through data to see where the site can be improved.I have gained good testing experience here working regularly on Auto/System and Unit tests. I have also been involved with integrating third party solutions such as Facebook/Google login, Trust pilot and One Signal among others.I gained experience working with shareholders in gathering requirements and to take those requirements through our flow giving critical feedback from a tecnical perspective at each point.Some notable projects were the complete rewite of the site from a .net project into react/redux/contentful as well as being the lead on the Ding snapchat mini project, a kind of mini topup flow inside snapchat which was a great experience and a lot of fun.
