Current• Manage all aspects of engineering, manufacturing, and new product development• Participate in high-level strategic and financial board meetings• Consider the philosophies behind new product development and working with creative people• Find ways to encourage creativity and passion instead of squander it• Setup and manage domestic and international contract manufacturers• Hand build prototypes to demonstrate new product viability by stuffing PCBs, running lathes and mills, welding etc• Operate in-house photometrics lab using an integrating sphere, a custom, servo controlled goniometer, and spectrometer for photometry and spectroscopy• Manage the agency approval process (ETL, UL, cUL, CE, PSE etc) and the radiated/conducted emissions and immunity testing (FCC, EN55022, EN55015 etc)• Attend tradeshows to interact with customers, vendors and to conduct market research• Manage any consulting and contract engineering resourcesEMBEDDED LED AND FIXTURE EXPERIENCE• Exotic printed circuit board design using unconventional layer/pad-stacks, plating processes, materials, thermal/filled vias, etc (typically using OrCAD, PADS and Altium Designer for schematic capture and layout)• Embedded firmware development in Assembly Language using Tech-Tool’s and Microchip MPLAB• Creative electromechanical packaging design including ease of assembly, industrial design aesthetics, extremely tight space constraints, thermal management etc. • Developed and manufactured custom agency and EMI compliant cable assemblies with high-speed data and high-current combined considerations• Designed and implemented radiated and conducted emissions test lab (steel walls/floors and LISN for conducted - 10m antenna for radiated) • Installed photometric laboratory, designed to conduct LED fixture lifetime tests which comply to the LM-80 and LM-79 standards• Worked on many patents involving high power LED fixtures (wrote IP language, conducted prior art searches etc.)
