About Michael J. Barron, M.P.A.

I thrive on opportunities to represent organizations as they forge solutions and affect policy. I realized after I was selected to be Newt Gingrich’s Congressional Fellow — when he was Speaker of the House of Representatives and I was a professional Army Officer — that Government Affairs appealed to my commitment to serve and impact public policy. My natural affinity for Legislative Affairs crystallized through a series of unexpected opportunities as I was:► Selected as the Army’s liaison to the Senate the day after my term with the Speaker ended.► Nominated 5 years later to leave combat in Iraq and return to Washington to be the Assistant for Legislative Affairs for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.► Invited 2 years later by the incoming Chairman for the unprecedented opportunity to continue serving in this role for another 2 years.► Requested by the new Secretary of the Army to become his special assistant—a great opportunity to draw on my combined experience working with The White House, Capitol Hill, the National Security Council, the Dept. of State and the Pentagon.► Aggressively pursued as I retired from the Army to join Boeing’s Executive Team and represent its interests with Congress. ► Tapped on the shoulder by the President & CEO of MOAA to represent Military & Veteran affairs as budgets were tightening heading into Sequestration.► Invited by the VA to serve in a new, single-year appointment as an expert in both Legislative & Veteran Affairs.Fast forward to 2020... Capitol Hill Connect is my new SDVOSB consultancy dedicated to Government Relations, Legislative Affairs & Business Development on behalf of Military & Veteran Health, National Security, Cybersecurity, Defense & Foreign Affairs.Whether it’s an enterprise company, a small government contractor, a non-profit or a foundation, I provide access & influence, then create legislative strategies that either develop and implement advocacy positions or secure contracts with Federal agencies that include: the DoD, VA, and DHS.SPECIALTIES: SDVOSB, Government Relations, Government Affairs, Congressional & Legislative Affairs, Public Affairs, Strategic Partnerships, Business Development, Lobbying, Business Strategy, Legislative Strategy, International Relations, International Security, Foreign Policy¸ Counterterrorism, National Security, Cybersecurity, Emergency Management, Physical Security, Defense Policy, Program Management, Military & Veteran Health Policy, Executive Leadership, Team Building, Cross-Functional Teams, Training & Development
