I have gained hands-on experience and developed skills in cybersecurity through several labs and projects at Kansas State University from August 2022 to April 2023. In the Cybersecurity Labs & Projects, I analyzed and troubleshot a complex network structure for a simulated bank branch, implemented initial network security on Cisco devices, and secured the network against potential security threats and unauthorized access.Moreover, in the Arp Spoof Detector lab, I developed a Python script to automatically identify ARP Spoofing behavior on workstations, successfully preventing further attacks for a company suspected of being under an On-Path attack. I also conducted testing using a Kali Linux VM, identifying and logging ARP Spoofing activity to ensure successful prevention of network attacks.Finally, in the Capture the Flag lab, I investigated suspicious activity in a given environment using basic tools and identified the flag by connecting to the Splunk system via the mail server. I utilized various tools and techniques, including VirtualBox, Ubuntu, and Windows 10, to successfully locate sources and decipher messages to identify the flag. Through these labs and projects, I have gained practical experience and developed skills in analyzing and securing networks, identifying and preventing attacks, and investigating cybersecurity incidents using various tools and techniques.

During my time in the U.S Army Reserves as a Military Police Sergeant from March 2009 to March 2017, I developed and maintained a secure catalog database in Microsoft Excel containing approximately 200 books used by detainees. My focus was on tracking the information shared between cells, and I collaborated with a translator to accurately translate book titles into English for monitoring purposes. My attention to detail allowed me to identify patterns and potential security threats based on the books being passed between cells.I implemented improvements to the database and monitoring process, resulting in more efficient tracking and identification of potential security breaches. I demonstrated strong communication and teamwork skills while working closely with other personnel, including the translator and military officials, to achieve project goals.Additionally, I was promoted to Sergeant during my 2013-2014 deployment to Afghanistan for exceptional leadership and performance. I led a team of soldiers in completing counseling reports and conducting Military Police operations both stateside and abroad. I demonstrated strong leadership skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a high-stress environment. I maintained accountability for personnel and equipment during deployment, ensuring mission success.Finally, I received recognition and accolades from superiors for outstanding performance and achievement. My experience in the U.S Army Reserves has allowed me to develop strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, which I can apply to various professional settings.
