Michael is a seasoned utility consultant and engineer with over 35 years experience in all aspects of the energy, utility and communications industry specializing in communications systems supporting AMI, SCADA, Grid Modernization and Smart Grid project implementations. A highly motivated individual with years of practical experience working with utilities and the implementation of technology to improve operations, reduce costs and minimize risk. Known as a collaborative team player that brings a broad depth of practical experience from the utility, the Smart solution supplier and as a consultant working with suppliers and multiple utilities both in the North American market and globally. Michael is results oriented and customer driven with demonstrated accomplishments in utility and communications systems. With a diverse engineering background in planning, design and deployment with a heavy emphasis on communications systems, in addition to architecture, design and deployment methods, Michael brings practical knowledge of how systems must be deployed to be functional, operationally compatible with utility systems as well as maintainable through proven design and field experience. Michael is a Professional Engineer and licensed Electrical Contractor.Michael is a subject matter expert in telecommunications, AMI, Grid Modernization & Smart Grid, electric, gas and water utility system strategy, planning, project management, inter-operability, solution architecture, design and field deployment, of communications systems. His PE and electrical contractors license bring both a credentialed design and practical background as well.Michael is currently involved with replacement of SONET communications with MPLS-TP in a large US utility as well as implementing a comprehensive telecommunications asset management, planning and design software tool. Michael has successfully managed multiple utility Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system deployment projects in electric, gas and water as well as managed utility telecommunications SCADA systems. He has served on IEEE standards bodies as well as led the communication presentation for the NY Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) workshop.
