I currently work with cross functional teams in the Ads and Promotions space conducting a wide variety of both quantitative and qualitative research projects throughout the product development cycle at DoorDash. I am focused on our users and working to make our platform the best for Merchants to easily achieve their business goals. During my time at DoorDash so far I have demonstrated significant impact as a result of my research output in statistical increases in sponsored listing adoption by small business owners due to key insights my work has identified.Previously I was the UX Research Manager at Animoto, marketing video builder company. I managed a team of three direct reports and worked to build out a set of competencies and advancement ladders in order to help them identify and understand what areas to work on in order to advance and grow in their careers and then coordinated with them to set achievable goals throughout each quarter to steadily advance their careers and skills. At my previous job, I was working as a senior user experience researcher at athenahealth, an electronic health record and practice management company, and I provide a voice for the user as our team works to create solutions that will make their complicated workspace simpler. I talk to users frequently through usability testing, interviews, and focus groups and I also gain insight into their needs by designing surveys and analyzing user responses. I enjoy thinking about new questions that need to be answered, and how to answer them, in order to provide a better service for our users. Throughout my graduate career, I focused on human factors issues in the healthcare domain, such as simulator-based training, medical device usability and evaluation, as well as patient safety concerns. I worked on a number of healthcare related usability projects including a grant from The Agency for Healthcare Research Quality (AHRQ) in which studied the training and long term retention of surgical skills by surgeons in order to reduce error during non-invasive procedures. My experiences throughout graduate school helped me realize that usability and user experience is the type of work and research that I am most passionate about. My strong background in basic experimental research and current experience in human factors and usability testing makes me uniquely fit to work in industry positions as a usability or user experience researcher. When I am not conducting research I am an avid rock climber and amateur photographer.
