I've spent 20 years as a professional writer, managing editor, and copy editor of critical, news, feature, technical, educational, promotional, and business writing. I spent twelve of those years as the Director of Publications for the International Communication Association, in which I particularly honed my skills as an editor.In addition, I am a freelance jazz journalist who has written for The Washington Post, Washington City Paper, JazzTimes, Down Beat, NPR, WAMU, Slate, The Village Voice, AV Club (D.C.), Bandcamp.com, and Jazz.com.
