Lab Manager

Atc Materials

Westlake, Ohio

While I was at ATC I managed a Research and Development (R&D) lab that fabricated ceramic-composite based body armor prototypes, and directed a small staff in all aspects of the prototype assembly processes. I also assembled ceramic-composite based body armor prototypes using vacuum forming processes and a two-part polyurethane system. I ensured that R&D prototypes were completed on time and that all deadlines were met, and developed and maintained strict quality control measures by documenting the assembly processes during fabrication, making sure that all assembly procedures were followed. I also created and implemented failure analysis procedures and criteria that were applied to ATC prototypes after ballistic testing, and generated post-testing reports based on these new procedures and criteria. Furthermore, I developed inventory systems for raw materials and lab supplies in order to maintain sufficient inventory levels while maintaining and fostering relationships with vendors in order to insure the timely delivery of prototype materials. I thoroughly enjoyed working with coworkers in the creative development of new designs for new and existing R&D products, including body armor and missile protection systems. I also collaborated with a nationally recognized manufacturing expert in order to develop and initiate a detailed workflow production plan that would enable ATC to transition from an R&D organization into a “missile protection system” manufacturing company.I was responsible for proper labeling and storage of all prototypes, as well as maintaining all lab and warehouse equipment while enforcing safe lab procedures while maintaining a clean lab environment. I also developed, implemented and improved new lab processes and work flow layouts.I thoroughly enjoyed my position at ATC Materials. However, due to lack of government funding, my position was eliminated. I look forward to applying the skills that I acquired while I was there to my next position.
