• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering Technology with a concentration in Process Plant Management • Associates of Science in Process Plant Technology • Lab Technician • Computer skills (LIMS, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, SAP, Experion)• Test and analyze product samples per sample schedules using equipment and instruments such as Karl Fisher auto titrators, pH meters, Ocs, and UV-Visible spectrophotometers, etc.• Gas Chromatography • Mass Spectrometry• Check laboratory instruments to make sure they are within statistical control and maintain calibrations • Experience in use of Karl Fisher, Melt Flow Indexers, FTIR, IMR, and X-ray for sample analysis• Calibrate lab equipment before each shift• Retest, and verify any questionable product quality and rendering final judgement of such quality and classification.• Wet Chemistry • Safety knowledge of mechanical equipment, instrumentation, and chemicals• Experience in polymer rheology and spectroscopy, chemical evaluations, microscopy, physical testing• Collects data and calculates material balances. Analyzes data for accuracy and consistency based on past experience in pilot plant operations• Performs analytical testing of process end products using a variety of analytical devices• Operate a dry box, identifying all feeds to the dry box and knowing the operation of the dry box and dri-train• Make observations in lab for any leaks or equipment failures that may create a hazard or cause inefficiency• Optimizing/troubleshooting equipment problems • Making appropriate adjustments to meet safety, quality and environmental requirements• Use lab scales, hydrometer, thermometer, oven, multi-mixer, hot plate and moisture analyzer• Execute experimental assignments. Lead safety inspections in area of responsibility, and execute safe work practices• Assure the safety of all personnel according to HSE requirements, cease operations and correct any safety concerns • Move control settings to make necessary adjustments on equipment affecting speeds of chemical reactions, quality, or yields• Uses standard procedures in completing assignments.• Record operating data, such as process conditions, test results, or instrument readings.• Assist in the development and modification of operating procedures.• Manage and maintain the laboratory supplies inventory.
