Machine Learning research/engineering to solve Face Antispoofing and Age Estimation.

I carried out research in the area of biological and artificial intelligence, developing a series of deep neural networks to investigate the nature of multisensory integration in humans.Outcomes:• Created a series of deep audiovisual video recognition models (Recurrent Convolutional Neural Networks).• Used state-of-the-art models and transfer learning to improve performance in audio, visual and audiovisual domains.• Created a series of novel out-of-sample (OOS) tasks to assess the learnt behaviour of audiovisual deep neural networks.• Produced a highly-controlled large, labelled dataset of audiovisual action events by recruiting, training and managing a group of human annotators.• Contributed to https://github.com/microsoft/MaskFlownet to provide functions to allow users to use MaskFlownet to obtain single flow images or flow image sequences.• Created a large, labelled dataset of optical flow image sequences depicting action events.• Trained prototype classifiers on the created optical flow problem.• Carried out online human behavioural experiments using Psychopy, Pavlovia and Prolific.

• Worked as part of a small team (4 members) to complete a large, successful project to qualify naval ammunition for the Ministry of Defence.• Led a Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis resulting in a successful bid to secure support work for the Ministry of Defence.• Carried out trials on products and prepared restricted reports forthe Ministry of Defence.• Regularly wrote restricted technical reports for the Ministry of Defence (the primary customer) detailing intentions, actions and recommendations.

I completed an internship at Halewood Body & Assembly, Jaguar Land Rover. Here I collected data from the production line (gauge readings, door/boot accelerometerreadings etc.) and presented the data to quality engineers in meetings. The work helped to prevent expensive line stoppages due to damaged equipment and helped to develop both proactive and reactive quality protocols.
