As a senior executive in the information systems security space, I have to think like a pessimist to ensure my company’s data, networks, and communications are safe. Worst case scenarios—privileged information leaked, data held hostage, fraudulent transactions—are real possibilities, and many businesses are not secure enough. I am passionate about building step-above security systems to stop these situations from ever happening.I’ve seen firsthand what it means to take established systems and transform them. I take a big-picture view of a business’s technologies and drive sustainable changes that make a big difference. My career spans every IT system and role imaginable—from network engineer to owner/partner of an IT consulting business—allowing me to work both strategically and hands-on. More importantly, I know how to build and inspire diverse teams of professionals to collaborate effectively, build up each other’s weaknesses, and work toward a shared vision.Career Highlights:✔ SECURITY TRANSFORMATION: In my first few months at CB&I Group, I led an initiative to modernize the security program. I replaced outdated processes with fully-compliant policies and rewrote our operating procedures to NIST standards. After these core changes, our company returned zero findings on security audits for the next four years.✔ PROACTIVE IMPROVEMENT: Although our data communications channels functioned correctly, I introduced redundancies to mitigate potential vulnerabilities. The stronger, redundant systems proved invaluable during a fiber cut, saving hundreds of thousands of dollars.✔ COMPANY-WIDE PROGRAMS: To fully protect the company, all employees—not just the IT organization—need to be aware and prepared of security threats.
