I corrected the problems.3019 Soil and 3019A Duct Work had major safety issues (Plutonium, Uranium-233, and explosive concerns. The Defense Nuclear Safety Board (DNFSB) reports to the Executive Branch/President.)I finished the projects successfully.

Environmental Management Manager: Department of Energy (DOE), Oak Ridge, TN1985 – 2008Managed the remediation of the Molten Salt Reactor Experiment (MSRE) which included $55M to design, construct, and operate a unique fuel processing plant.Position required expertise in cost and schedule management, uranium processing chemistry and instrumentation, Readiness Reviews and DOE-HQ/DNFSB safety interfaces.Successfully passed three subproject Readiness Reviews with DOE-HQ and DNFSB oversight. All operations involved uranium chemistry operations with U-233. U-233 has contamination properties similar to plutonium and radiation properties in the 100’s R/hr range.First subproject involved remote piping repairs and trapping F2 and UF6. Second subproject involved neutralization of explosive carbon-fluoride compounds and removal of a 100+R/hr U-233 deposit. Third subject involved conversion of UF4 to UF6, and removal of the UF6 gas from molten salt primary coolant.

This included the largest decommissioning project in the country, the billion dollar project to decommission the K-25 Site. Responsible for annual budgets of $40- $100M.Managed ORNL waste operations and reduced liquid and solid low level waste generation by 25% and 35%, respectively, with savings of $320k annually via implementing a systems approach to operations.Managed the DOE National Radioactive Low Level Waste and National Hazardous Waste Research and Development Programs. Evaluated R&D progress via monthly reports and site visits at DOE National Laboratories to determine annual budget allocations.
