In the catalysis subgroup we design active and durable catalysts for various types of enantioselective chemical transformations. I specialized in the hydrolytic kinetic resolution of terminal epoxides, where I designed polymeric catalyst supports that exploit the mechanism of the reaction in order to optimize turnover frequencies and turnover numbers.I have designed the most active and durable heterogeneous HKR catalyst reported in the literature thus far. The catalyst can be recycled over 6 times with excellent retention of enantioselectivity and total turnovers exceeding 35,000 times.
