Don't let the job title fool you. I'm still working on Broadcast Control Systems. Part of a very small team supporting all aspects of BBC Scotland's control system SNCS. Currently nearing the end of a project to move to a virtual environment for the system back end.Also provide assistance with BNCS installations in Scotland.

Working on Broadcast control systems for BBC Scotland. Part of a highly niche team of two, developing, maintaining and supporting a bespoke system that controls broadcasting from London to the Orkney Islands. We are responsible for the complete system, from Software to Configuration and Hardware.Also have a minor role in maintaining BNCS installations in BBC Scotland.

During the above period, I accepted the additional responsibility of Line Management for the ‘North’ section of the Convergent Technology group, reporting to the DCC Manager.The Line Management tasks performed included :-• Staff Appraisals/Dialogues • Health & Safety compliance• Administration and Approvals of Leave & Overtime Claims• Contract, Salary Negotiation & Staff Reward Process• Delivery of Team Brief• Management of Sickness absences and Return to Work process• Supervision of ‘Near Shore’ team

My first posting in the BBC was a challenging one, being part of a small team responsible for all engineering, project and operational work on site and on outside broadcasts.Hard work but immensely rewarding.

Joined the BBC on the graduate training program. Training program consisted of courses at the training centre, BBC Woodnorton and rotation through all the broadcast engineering departments on a BBC site.Left as an ETSI qualified Engineer.
