My key areas of focus are on the recruitment of brokers in to our business, recruiting new to industry brokers and mentoring them through our best practice Academy, facilitating the growth of our broker businesses, leveraging the integration between Ray White and Loan Market and building and maintaining lender relationships. Michael Karpathakis, manager of national key accounts, was tasked with the job of ensuring Westpac’s strategy gains traction with key broking groups. Working with the nation’s leading business partners. I’ve had been with Westpac group for about five years. As part of Tony MaCrae's leadership team, where my focus was working with our key aggregation and brokerages groups to apply our third party distribution strategy. Most of my time is focused on working directly with aggregators and their brokers to advise and notify of Westpac policy changes as well as key activities we’re undertaking to strengthen Westpac’s broker market positioning. Key to our strategy is that we want to work with advocates of the bank and my interaction with brokers is about developing those that align with our strategy and ensuring they’re equipped with the right information and resources to actively promote and write Westpac products.Being from non Banking background had been very handy – I understand the challenges faced by brokers and aggregators, and as a result can better align Westpac’s third party business to meet these. Importantly, because of my experience with brokers I can bridge the gap between the expectations and strategy of the bank and the objectives of our key broker business partners. A lot of the time it comes down to focused and consistent communications; engaging our partners on the decisions we make. I’ve found that this consultative approach is key to our partners’ understanding of our goals and restrictions, and well as better appreciate theirs.
