ModeratorBellevue First Congregational United Church Of Christ May 2013 - May 2015Bellevue, WaElected lay leader of 400+ member congregation. Led congregation through process of selling our downtown property that has been our home for over 100 years and purchasing and renovating a new property, a few blocks away, as our new church home beginning in 2016. The sale involved working with our brokers, a committee of members, and the congregation to successfully close the $30 million transaction. The transaction required a positive vote of a majority of the congregation. After numerous congregational meetings and discussion, the sale was approved by 98% of the congregation. A similar process was required for the purchase of the new property. That was a $15 million transaction that was also approved by the same percentage. I worked with the church council and pastors to establish a system of working groups to work with a cadre of consulting professionals to handle design of the new facility, logistics of the move, inventory and archiving of our history, emotional and spiritual support for the congregation, and overall project management. This is all in addition to the regular, ongoing mission and ministry work of the church, which did not diminish during this time.
