After working in the coal mines for years I decided that I needed to start a new career due to the coal industry being unstable. I thought I would try my hand at restaurant work. That is when I got a job with McDonald's. I excelled very quickly within the franchise that I was a part of. I started as the opening grill cook and after only 3 months I was promoted to a crew trainer. Within 6 months I was promoted to a shift manager. I was then asked if I would be interested in furthering my opportunities and become a department manager which I gladly accepted. So, with in 1 year of being hired I had quickly worked my way up from the opening grill cook to the Kitchen department manager. I was in that position when our General Manager left so I then approached my supervisor and told her I was interested in that position. Shortly after that I started my training for that position. I excelled very quickly and truly enjoyed my job. Also, while working for this franchise my store got excellent scores during our annual inspections (BSV) and was some of the best scores they had gotten since they opened. I feel that I was able to advance so quickly due to the fact that I had experience in supervising from when I worked in the coal mines and I've been active in the fire service for 23 years now and I have been in different supervisory positions there also. I am also currently Servsafe Certified.
