About Michael Kelleher

Michael Kelleher is an experienced international business executive with a record of proven results in the professional services and software industries. He has been deeply involved in twelve mergers and acquisitions in both the public sector and private industry. Michael knows what it takes to integrate acquisitions and how to implement a successful exit strategy.Over the past seven years, Michael helped the Acacia Group purchase the professional services business from Intelligent Decisions, led the integration of seven companies under the Applied Insight platform, and assisted in selling the aggregated company to CACI.In addition to the merger and acquisitions efforts, Michael has been a key member of the financial organization. He was the pricing leader at Applied Insight for over fifty proposals of various sizes as a prime and subcontractor. These proposals include two key wins as a prime contractor with the Maryland Procurement Office totaling over $300M. Michael has also worked on pricing GSA based contracts as a prime contractor with wins totaling over $120M. Prior to focusing on pricing, Michael led the finance organization including all project control functions, profit and loss statements and budgeting. More importantly he led the book-to-bill ratio calculation and backlog reporting for over 150 contracts as the backlog grew from $100M to just under $700M.In 2017, Michael returned to his software engineering and consulting roots by leading the implementation of the Unanet financial platform for Applied Insight. During his early days as a software engineer and project manager, in the United Sates and Europe, he worked on and led teams of various sizes in the higher education, local and state government and telecommunications sectors. Michael has seen firsthand the evolution of technology from the mainframe to the mid-tier and to the Cloud.As a leader, Michael understands the value in running an efficient organization. He led the quality teams for two companies and was able to ascertain company certifications in CMMI Level 3 for services and development as well as ISO certifications in 9001, 20000, 27001 and 27017.Michael is an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Practioner and holds Project Management Professional (PMP) and PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certifications.Michael graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. He continued his education at George Mason University obtaining a Masters of Business Administration (MBA).

    Comverse was a telecommunications software company headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel which purchased the Kenan assets from CSG in 2005. Comverse was a world leader in Billing Support Systems (BSS) for telecommunication operators such as T-Mobile, AT&T and France Telecom.In 2006 there were some financial improprieties by the CFO and the publicly traded company was delisted from the stock exchange and investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Due to these issues, Comverse was required to restate all of their earning, with perfect hindsight, back to December 2005 in 2010 and 2011. This entailed closing multiple sets of books simultaneously, being reviewed by an accounting auditing firm constantly and being review by a Sarbanes-Oxley auditing firm.Due to Michael’s intimate knowledge of the Kenan customers, the financial status of those customers, his financial education and his expert Excel skills, he was asked to join the revenue accounting team to restate the earning and get the company relisted. After two years, numerous audits and new governance procedures, the restatement was completed, and the company was relisted on the stock exchange.Prior to leading the revenue recognition accounting team, while at Comverse Michael led the Business Operations for Professional Services in the Americas. In transitioning from a privately held company, Kenan Systems, to a publicly traded company in the iterations for Lucent, CSG Systems and Comverse, there was a great deal of governance that was required to run the business effectively. Michael started from scratch and built the processes and procedures for profit and loss forecasting, pipeline management, customer sign off, staffing normalization of levels, quarterly review meetings and proposal pricing. He then replicated these procedures and trained his peers in Europe and Asia Pacific.

    Kenan Systems was a telecommunications software company which was acquired by Lucent Technologies and subsequently by CSG Systems. Michael worked as a Project Manager and Software Implementation consultant for many clients in the DC metro area including AOL, Winstar and Verizon.One of Michael’s biggest accomplishments while working at Kenan was at OneMain.com. They were an internet service provider that was struggling with the Kenan Arbor/BP software implementation. Michael was asked to step in mid-way into the project to get it back on track. After some hard business conversations with the customer, he was able to convince the customer to move in a different direction and go thru a project replanning effort. The project went live based on the new schedule and OneMain.com became a referenceable customer including hosting a Japanese company that was looking to purchase the Kenan Arbor/BP software.

    American Management Systems (AMS) Europe was a telecommunications software implementation company. Michael work in Leeds, England, The Hague, Netherlands and Bern, Switzerland over two years on two large software projects. The first project was a large telecom deployment for Cellnet in the UK. The second project was a wholesale telecom interconnection billing solution for Swiscom. On the interconnection project, the development effort took place in The Hague and the implementation in Bern, Switzerland.The Cellnet project was facing difficulties when Michael arrived in Leeds, England. He worked closely with the customer to develop key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to try and track the progress and potential success of the project to the AMS and Cellnet executives. In the end, the software did not fit the needs of the customer, and the project was terminated.The Swisscom project reached great success as Michael led the software testing team in The Hague. This involved writing all the testing scripts, both batch and online, from scratch. He also managed the technical setup with the hardware and software vendors.Once the system was ready to go into User Acceptance Test, Michael went to Bern, Switzerland where the client used most of his documentation for this testing including negative and performance test cases. He helped the technical team configure and turn on the software in a live environment in Lucerne, Switzerland.
