Led small team (2-5 developers) in creating a responsive, mobile-first application for student transcript review/sharing utilizing NodeJS, MySQL and React. Reviewed requirements with Project Owners, assigned development tasks to developers, reviewed pull requests, and provided feedback at all stages of the development process.Provided guidance and expertise for the design and implementation of a Training Management System using a Groovy/Grails backend system utilized by an EmberJS-based frontend. Managed deployment of version 1.0 of product in September 2005, and continued design and development of additional functionality in support of new requirements requested by FAA field personnel.Also, designed and developed prototype obstruction tracking and maintenance system utilizing Spring Framework and Spring MVC to replace existing Apache Struts-based system. Designed new workflows, UI and improved geospatially-focused functionality to allow users to better manage obstruction data. Also developed initial prototype Web Service based on Open Geospatial Consortium’s Web Feature Service Specification, providing obstruction data to other FAA organizations using industry standard Service-Oriented Architecture technologies (XML, SOAP, WS-*).Also, involved in technology research and testing with various frameworks and platforms including Hibernate Spatial, Java Topology Suite, Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP), Groovy, Grails, and jQuery. Developed many prototypes based on these technologies, and created business cases for their use in future projects.

Subcontracted to Federal Aviation Administration as part of their ITSS contract.Involved in the design of prototype “Electronic Flight Bag” application for the FAA using Java and the Swing GUI toolkit. Analyzed requirements provided by FAA’s Research and Technology group and implemented functionality required for a GUI application targeted to Tablet PC format, or similar mobile device. Utilized a rapid development approach to quickly ascertain user needs and make refinements, producing many prototype iterations during the course of initial design.Also provided assistance with migration of an Apache Struts based Java web application from the Apache Tomcat platform to Oracle 10g Application Server, identifying key platform differences and implemented fixes to alleviate the problems. In addition, provided feedback on various features and design elements being worked on by the team, and assisted in implementing several features requested by users, utilizing both Java and JavaScript to meet user needs.
